First time I've had a chance to get back to you -- we enjoyed last weekend at Hillside, very relaxing, we'll definitely use your facilities again if thats ok!

If you are reading this review because you are contemplating going to Hillside, then go for it. Brian and Diane who run the site could not have been more friendly and helpful when we stayed there a few days ago. The site is small and peaceful in a lovely setting with good facilities (the hot showers were particularly enjoyable at this time of year). There are good walks from the camp site in what is a great part of the world and there is plenty of space for kids to play. Highly recommended.

Having spent a relaxing weekend at Hillside we would heartily agree with the other reviews. The location was in the midst of Ringwood Forest which offer plenty of walking and cycling routes, unfortunately due to very heavy rain the trail through to Verwood was flooded so we used the road route to town, still a pleasant cycle. Also mentioned is the discount at the local butchers but there is also an agreement for Free sausages which are heartily recommended and definitely a reason to return to the site. Brian & Diane were both very helpful & friendly and we will be trying out the fresh eggs when we return.

The showers had plentiful hot water but as also mentioned the otherwise acceptable facilities could do with a bit of TLC in preparation for the new season.

We will definitely be returning in the new year and would recommend it to anyone wanting a peaceful time

We have just got back from a relaxing break at Hillside. It is a lovely, fairly small site with friendly owners who are helpful with places to visit, vouchers for local butchers and a pub which are emailed before arrival, and even fresh eggs from their hens on site!

Most of the site is fairly flat, but also has some sloped areas with large pitches, although we were pitched under some trees where the acorns kept falling off on to our tent, which was a little noisy, but once we realised what it was, went a bit deaf to them!

The same went for the Cockerel, the owls and the cows - it was lovely though, as it reminded us what a beautiful place we were lucky enough to stay in (in fact 150, 000 acres of loveliness!-great for walking the dog).

There are showers and toilets and a washing up area, all quite sufficient, but could maybe do with modernising, but plenty of hot water at all hours of the day.

A mile away is the small town which has Coffee shops, Tesco, Coop and the best Fish and Chips I have ever had!

The beach, which we didn't get to but other people did, was only about 30 mins (if that) away.

The road leading up to campsite is very holey and muddy - no problem if you drive very slowly and the sign isn't particularly obvious, but very small negatives really. I would recommend this site, but will try other ones in the New Forest, just to experience different areas.

Sorry I haven't been in touch for a while, but just thought I'll email and just to thank you for a most fabulous time we had at your campsite. My wife and I and our 2 boys Elias 14 and Omar 10 had fantastic time at your place. Yours was our first ever campsite experiencing and we enjoyed the hospitality, the atmosphere and the genorosity that we decided to make it a lifetime change and switch to camping. We visited your campsite on 3 occasions and will recommended to anyone. You are very accommodating for both families and people without children and are looking forward to paying you a visit in the near future. Until then take care and god bless

We swapped our caravan for a tent and went on our first outing with in-trepidation. The site owners were very friendly and helpful, supplying us each day with ice-blocks for our cool box. If we left it they come to see if we needed to swap them over.

On arrival we were given a welcome pack and map of the local area. We used this most days walking into the local town discovering short cuts that were not included on the map.

The woods are vast I would advise the use of a OS map the scenery is lovely and each time we walked a different route finding something new.

The toilets and showers were old but clean and the individual shower rooms seems a good idea accommodating all in a diverse society. The washing-up area is kept tidy and they supply the facilities here too which I thought was a nice gesture.

I would come back to the site again and recommend it to others.

After camping at this site 3 times I felt I needed to send review.

I stayed there for the recent time in early June and could and can not praise Brain and Diane enough. When we arrived on the Friday we were given the correct pitches as we had family who had never camped with us before and they fulfilled all of our requested requirements ie nice pitches electric close to toilets etc. They greeted us with enthusiasm and friendliness that can not be faulted.

They gave our small welcome pack with all the discounts for the local shops and maps of all the walks in the area

The facilities basic as the were are more than ample for us as campers as we do not enjoy big sites and everywhere was clean tidy and very hot, even the washing up area was clean and pleasant.

The site/pitches are always very clean and even with the little rain that we had it was still easy to move about and the children could play easily.

They do sell a few items ie gas soft drinks etc but the shops are not to far to either drive to or if you feel like a nice walk then this is very enjoyable.

The final point is that on the Sunday when we were due to leave the heavens opened and was set in for the day, with this in mind and with my inexperienced campers I asked Brian if I could leave my tents over night and collect the following day. I was prepared to pay for this but both insited on no charge which was great. So homeward bound we went and came back the following day where Diane helped in taking tents down and just reminding me to come back soon

Conclusion, great site great facilities and great owners.

I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Verwood. It was my first trip out this year and I thought the site was lovely. I was a bit worried about the road noise but, apart from when I was actively listening for it, I didn't notice it at all. The woods which are reached via the dog walk are really lovely. The wardens were very helpful. The showers were amazing - really powerful and always hot. A very good washing up area. It was the week before the half term break so it was fairly quiet and I can't be sure how the showers would cope if it was full. I didn't buy anything from the shop but it looked like it had quite a good selection of essentials.

The whole area is very dog friendly.

I would definitely stay here again.

To both Brian and Diane, thank you both for a brilliant Easter weekend, we have both thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, you are well situated for easy access to great walks in in the forest, which both dogs enjoyed and Verwood is just down the road. We will return once we have got our dates sorted out. The fresh eggs are a must.

Lovely little site. Nicely tucked away, but close enough to take a meandering walk to the town of Verwood down a back track. Friendly and helpful owner. Lovely showers (only 2 but seemed ample) with plenty of hot water. Plenty of room for the kids to ride their bikes & play games. Site had a net up for ball games, which we found very useful.

This is a site I would recommend for a nice little break!

Just wanted to say a big thank you for letting us stay on and turn are 2 nights stay into a family holiday with the children. Jessica and Callum had a cry on the way home, because they did not want to leave !!! All they have talked about since we arrived home is when they can come again !!! Brian really enjoyed helping out with the odd jobs on the site, he said it made him feel useful. A boost to his confidence since losing his job. He said he missed his evening visit down to see you Brian, to help put the chickens and geese away and to have a chat and catch up. Thanks again for a great family holiday. We will keep in touch.

Just a thank you for putting up with us Yorkshire folk for so long.It seems ages since we left. Certainly recommend your site.As with all sites room for improvement but nothing drastic. You asked Brian , what would help make it better? I don,t know if it was adults only you may get more caravaners. Some of them tend to be stuck-up.Your problem seems to be health and age, if you were fit enough all the bits and bobs might get done ( like ringing the cockerels necks all 4 of them.) only joking believe it or not Mave and I miss them. Being a camper you hear what the other buggers moan about , so here goes. Campers in tents on about state of the toilets after their kids had pushed half the bog roll down the loe. showers working, - fantastic. Need bigger rubbish bins. Caravaners moan about road into site this is usual, can,t help old railway bridges . Save yourself some money and either renew or service one of your taps. There you are you see not alot to do,won,t make you rich but it will stop these buggers moaning about now,t. If this is all there is to moan about ,stop at home and listen to Sir Cliff Jagger or Mick Richards. Hope to see you again later in the year or next year.Take care now,and if you dare venture up north look us up.

Just wanted to say we had a lovely stay at your campsite this weekend just gone, with all the lovely walks on the doorstep

Thanks to Brian for his lovely hospitality and a big thank you for the vouchers! We got our free sausages from the butchers and free cup of coffee & pasty from the Spar shop.( we did spend quite a bit though in both shops).

We're sure we will be visiting you again soon.

Thanks for a lovely weekend at your campsite, it was only a one nighter to introduce our 1 year olds to the joys of camping, we are all keen campers and found your campsite very pleasant and welcoming and will surely be back for longer stays in the future.

Thanks for being so friendly and we hope the babies crying didn't upset too many people.

I just wanted to say a great big thank you for a great camping holiday last year. It was fantastic..

After staying with you, we know how spoilt we were with all the lovely space and not being crammed together like other camp site. We loved that the tents were only around the edge of the field and that the kids could play in the middle and they had a fab time and we could relax knowing that we could see them at all times.

The toilets and showers were so lovely and clean and lots of hot water. It was so peaceful and quiet and so relaxing... The wildlife was amazing and the site is such good position with some lovely walks around site.

You made us feel so welcome when we arrived. It was nice to camp some where, where you were not just another booking, you were so friendly giving us such a lot of information and a beer each to the 2 men to help them with the job of putting up the tents.. (made them happy).

We feel so lucky to have discovered your camp site. The children are desperate to return during the summer holidays and keep asking how much longer till we go camping again. We have purchased a secondhand trailer tent and are keen to get it sorted so that we can use it during the summer holidays.

Looking forward to camping with you again this year

Many thanks for making our holiday so enjoyable, the weather helped as well!! You have certainly made your site very welcoming with tea etc on arrival, also the wine and sausages is a good gesture to introduce us to two of the well stocked local stores in the village. We know there is still much to see in the area so as they say in the movie 'We'll be back'.Best regards Derek and Carol.Suffolk

Dear Hillside, Thank you for the opportunity to pitch camp on Saturday night for my son and I. It is a very nice site that you have. We were up bright and early Sunday and left before others were about. I trust you found the money outside your door and all was in order. Many thanks, Robin Friend.
